The annual trend study presenting the latest numbers and facts around the German online tourism market is out now. 309 executives resp. decision-makers of the national and international tourism branch gave answers about their commitment in online tourism. As usual the survey focused on figures and facts regarding the results of the running on-line business, the experiences, the present development as well as the appraisal of the tourist
future.
In 2007 online tourism was booming again. Last year the German tourism branch earned
14.81 bn euro through the internet. The whole branch achieved 43.38 bn euro
in the same period of time. The internet served as the main source of inspiration in the tourism industry. The increase in the tourism sector can nearly invariable be attributed to the internet business.
Online sales grew 15 percent compared to 2006. Indeed, this means a slightly fall off, but also in the coming years two digit expansion rates can be expected. All in all, the tourism industry showcases as an extremely dynamic economic sector and as a virtual top seller. In the business-to-consumer market (B2C) the tourism amounts more or less one quarter of the whole German ecommerce. The driving power of this positive development once again was the disposal of transport services via the internet. In addition, the strong trend dynamic packaging was present throughout the tourism industry in 2007.
Tour operators - especially the top 11-20 travel businesses - achieved enormous expansion rates up to 86%.

The purpose of the annual market research is to document the present state of the "Ecommerce in on-line tourism in Germany" and to compare the results with the years
before.
