A new mekka for trend sports is developing in Bernese Oberland: Interlaken. The community with its once outmoded image of "tradition, noble cars and patients at a health resort" now attracts above all a young audience. Switzerland promises "pure adventure" amidst impressive alpine scenery. An accomandation must not necessarily be expensive in
Switzerland.
An overnight stay in a mass accomandation in a hostel can be booked by already 13 Euro. In return the saved money can be used for different summer and winter activities. Interlaken is an alpine region between the Thuner- and Brienzerlake with 15.000 inhabitants. Recently the region has activated its leisure time facilities and can in the meantime keep up with the New Zealand outdoor and backpacker paradise Queenstown - to leave nothing to be desired from skydiving, paragliding, and rafting to mountain biking. "Take a walk on the wild site" promises the website of Interlaken Adventures and informs about the numerous possibilites for people, who don´t want to lay sluggardly on the beach. By now there are eight hostels available for backpackers in Interlaken. The rooms will probadly not be vacant for the coming summer. Since 2005 Interlaken is the location of a more and more popular rock festival. The Greenfield festival takes place in the middle of June and convinces with a strong line-up in front of a grandiose mountain scenery. The etablitation of the festival, which attracts every year 25.000 music fans from all over the world, is another step forward towards a more youthfully image for the region Interlaken in Switzerland. Now its time for the german travel agencies to regocnize to potential of the youthful Switzerland. There is still barly a travel organizer, who offers out-door
journeys.

At the same time there are more and more Germans, who want to be active in their holidays. Just now destinations close to Germany are getting more and more popular in times of the climate change. For this reason, Switzerland offers new perspectives for German (online) tour operators. Althogether the tourism in Switzerland is looking up again. From 2000 to 2003 the arrivals of German tourists dropped from 2.23m to 1.89m, but the number of visitors in 2007 could reach the level of the year 2000 and even a little higher with 2.25m.
